Subshrub to ca. 60 cm. tall, with single unbranched stems from woody base ; leaves restricted to near base of stem, rather yellow-green above, pale beneath, slightly rigid, weakly aromatic ; inflorescence with wand-like branches, the axes yellow and often purple-tinged, with glaucose bloom ; calyces red-tinged ; corolla white, tinged pink on lower lip and on outer surface of corolla lobes ; anthers dark purple, the filaments and style white
