Multistemmed palm. trunk up to 4 m high, 18 cm diam. Leaf: petiole 1.4 m long; rachis 3.5 m long; sheath fibrous, 1.5 m long. 80 pairs of pinnae. 8 contemporaneous leaves in the crown. Inflorescence with prophyll 0.4 m long; peduncular bract 0.95 m long; peduncle 1.15 m long; rachis 0.25 m long.
Forest on alluvial soil, annually flooded by the river.
