Toujours ligneuse. This specimen on this sheet was collected by Nectoux at the end of 17th or beginning of 18th. cent. I found it in herb. gener. in MPU under Salicornia sp. with the lable showing it came from herb. Cambessedes. The last scolar was born in 1799 (as noted to me by M. Granel de Solignac) so it is possible that he worked at the time of Delile. In herb. Delile there is no specimen which correspond with the illustration of Delile in Fl. d'Egypte (pl. 21 fig. 4). There is a little stem of S. tetragona and a note in the band-writing of Delile ending in the words : "par Nectoux". The specimen of herb. Cambessedes is rather similar to the illustration in Delile's Fl. d'Egypte (l.c.) and I therefore think that this specimen should be regarded as the HOLOTYPE of Salsola tetragona Del. It should be noted that the only specimen in herb. Delile where the name S. tetragona is written is on the little lable of the second sheet in this file. This sheet (of herb. Cambessedes) was put into herb. Delile on 15 november 1972. A. Danin, Dep. of Botany, Hebrew Univ. Jerusalem, Israël.
