Tree 8m tall, 15cm Ø; scent of citrus when leaves are crushed; bark dark red with a thin outer layer naturally peeling off; flower buds on bole, grey, strong citrus scent; flower bud dissection: 9 bracts, bract n°8 enclose totally the bud, bract n°9 13×20mm (L×w), 3 sepals 10×10mm, 3 outer petals 8×7mm valvate at the apex, 3 inner petals slightly overlapping 7×5mm valvate at the apex, numerous stamens, c. 30 carpels
