Small herb to c. 10 cm, flowering from one-leaf stage ; root tuberous, tuber elongated c. 4 x 1 - 10 x 4 mm. Petioles and peduncles c. 1 mm in diameter, soft and watery, pale green. Leaves shallowly lobed, mid-green above, whitish beneath, very thin almost translucent, frosted. Inflorescences from the base, with leaves, 1-4 flowers apically ; flowers 8-11 mm across, both male and female with 2 tepals, anthers and styles lemon yellow ; ovary 3 winged, green-white
