Growing in thin soil and moss. Rhizome creeping, c.10-15 mm diameter, covered in orange-brown scales. Stipes and rachis dark brown and shiny but densely covered with paler grey-brown scales, rachis becoming glabrous beneath. Nest leaves pale brown with darker veining when mature, pale green when young. Fronds erect, to 115 cm long, lamina 93 x 20 cm. Lamina chartaceous to subcoriaceous, mid to dark green and shiny above, paler beneath. Sori brown, sunken, position raised on lamina above.
