Large shrub about 3 m. high, stems pale whitish grey, dull dark green at tip, petioles pale green above, brown below, smooth leathery leaves rather dark green and nerves prom. above, pale green, nerves reddish and prom., midrib brown towards the base below, peduncle very long (3-4 m.) very flexible, smooth, pink to scarlet (like plastic wire) inflor. similar bracteate, eventually resting between old leaves on the ground, flowers yellow, developing fruits dull dark red to pale green.
