Cultivated tree, dbh c. 50 cm; branches drooping, young shoots red. Sap from cut twigs clear. Sepals rosy pink, both sepals and petals persisted and thikened on fruit, persistant petals brownish purple. Fruit terminal or a node older, when close to ripe 8.5 cm diam. across, 7.5 cm long, wall thick, fluttedly lobed; rind around seeds pale yellow. Fruit lobes number = ovul number counted 13 but only 5 set seeds. Fresh exudate in cut fruit clear, watery. Lobe seperation unclear in young fruit
