Tree, 12 m high, stem 82 cm diameter at 0.5 m. Stem fluted, low branches. Leaflets 1-2 glands, placed on lower part of top half of leaflet. Flower pedicel red, sparse long hairs; 2 bracteoles, white, (sub-)opposite, 10-12 x 1 mm, glabrous; no petals at all; 10 stamens, filaments white, glabrous; ovary dark red. Flowers scented, attracting insects
