Large herbaceous vine with long leafless pale green white dewy stems bering the inflorescences and few terminal leafy branch on the forest canopy; young leaves thinly membraceous, shiny pale green above, red purple below; inflor. branches very dark, pedicel pale green, flowerbuds dull green, periant soon deciduous, reddish green inside, dark red filaments with yellow anthers, ovary dark purple ; young fruits brownish dark purple ribs
